Commercial water efficiency & cost reduction

Independent water efficiency consultants

No supplier ties, no fittings to sell — just experienced consultants whose only measure of success is the saving we find you.

Independent water efficiency consultants — the people behind your survey.

Water Cost Review is an independent water efficiency consultancy that helps UK organisations understand and reduce what they spend on water and wastewater. We are not a water retailer, we sell no fittings or equipment, and we take no commission from suppliers. That independence is deliberate: the only outcome we are measured on is the saving we find you.

Our experience

We have been reviewing commercial water use since 2011 and have surveyed well over a thousand UK sites across offices, factories, schools, hotels, manufacturing plants and public-sector estates. In that time we have identified more than fourteen million pounds in annual savings and recovered overcharges for clients, with an average identified saving of around 38% of water and wastewater spend. Those figures come from real surveys, not marketing estimates, and we are happy to talk you through how they are calculated.

The people who do the work

Your survey is carried out by experienced water efficiency consultants, not subcontracted to a call centre or a sales team. Our surveyors understand both the engineering — how cooling, CIP, boiler and process water actually behave — and the commercial side, including tariffs, trade effluent and the return-to-sewer allowances that so many businesses miss. We pair technical knowledge with plain-English reporting, because a saving you cannot understand is a saving you will not act on.

How we work

We work to a clear set of principles. We quantify everything we recommend, so you never receive a problem without a number attached. We operate on a no-saving, no-fee basis for overcharge recovery, so starting is risk-free. And we stay independent of suppliers and manufacturers, so our advice is never steered by what someone else wants to sell. Where we recommend a measure, it is because the maths supports it for your site.

Credentials and assurance

We are fully insured for the work we carry out and align our surveys with recognised water management good practice. Where appropriate we hold membership of relevant industry bodies and work to the standards expected of professional water management practitioners. We are glad to provide our insurance details, references and example reports on request before you engage us.

For site owners: the credentials, dates and figures on this page are illustrative placeholders for your new website — replace them with your real trading history, memberships and insurance details before publishing.

How we work with clients

We are deliberately independent. We do not sell water, we do not resell another supplier's contracts, and we take no commission for steering you towards one — which means our advice answers only to your interest in a smaller bill. That independence is the foundation of everything else: it is what lets us challenge your charges, question your tariff and recommend reuse without a conflict of interest sitting in the background.

Independent, UK-wide and accountable

We work with single sites and national portfolios across every sector, from offices and schools to factories and hotels. Wherever the premises and whatever the use, the approach is the same: measure honestly, report plainly, and only ever claim a saving we can stand behind. If we do not think we can help, we will tell you so — it is the only way to build the kind of trust that turns a first review into a long relationship.

  • Independent of every water supplier and retailer
  • Experience across offices, schools, factories, hotels and manufacturing
  • Findings backed by measurement, not sales figures
  • No lock-in: you own the report and choose what happens next

The questions we ask first

Before we recommend anything, we want to understand how your premises actually runs. How many sites do you operate, and how do they differ? When is the building busy and when is it empty? What has changed recently — an extension, a new process, a shift pattern — that might have moved your water use without anyone noticing? The answers shape the survey and make sure the findings reflect your reality rather than a textbook building. Good advice begins with good questions, and we would rather ask one too many than assume.

What a first conversation looks like

Getting started is deliberately low-commitment. A first conversation is short, costs nothing and puts you under no obligation: you tell us a little about your premises and your bills, and we tell you honestly whether there is a saving worth pursuing. If there is, we explain how we would approach it and what it would cost; if there is not, we say so plainly and you have lost nothing but a few minutes. We would always rather begin a relationship with a straight answer than a sales pitch, because the clients who stay with us are the ones who learned early that our advice can be trusted.
